WHY CAT PARENTS SWITCH

Three reasons it works when nothing else does.

01 01

No more wrestling at trim time

Your cat walks up to the box on their own. No towel burritos, no two-person hold, no scratched forearms.

02 02

Mental enrichment, built in

Hidden treats turn nail care into a puzzle. Cats stay calm, and busy, while you stay stress-free.

03 03

Furniture-grade and pet safe

No toxic materials or flimsy designs. Only high-quality, durable, cat-safe oak wood.

Three steps.  No clippers.

Most cats hate having their nails trimmed. Ours did too.
So we created something that allows them to do it on their own

Hide a few treats

Drop your cat's favorite treats into the holes. The nail file material covers all interior surfaces.

Let curiosity do the rest

Your cat reaches in to fish them out. Each pass over the nail file material gently files down their sharp claws.

Swap the paper when worn

When the nail file paper smooths out, peel it off and stick on a fresh sheet from a refill pack. Simple maintenance.

WHY IT WORKS

What you're actually paying for.

Replaceable nail file paper

Pre-cut peel-and-stick sheets allow for easy replacement. One refill pack lasts most cats at least twelve months.

Patented

We invented this design. There are cheap low-quality knockoffs on Amazon (buyer beware). This is the one that started the craze.

Solid oak wood

Others use toxic materials (like pine) and flimsy designs. We use high-quality, durable, cat-safe oak wood, because we actually care about cats.

Vet-friendly

An option for cats who hate clippers, grinders, or being held. Not a replacement for vet care, just a calmer Tuesday.

HONEST COMPARISON

How it stacks up against the alternatives.

At nail-trim time The Cat Box Clippers Grinders
Cat stays calm
No holding paws
No loud motor noise
Mental enrichment included
Works on cats who hide from you

OUR STORY

A family on a mission to enrich the lives of pets and their humans.

Mugi turns into a ninja the second she has her paws touched. Kusa, our Maine Coon, hides under the bed when he hears the grinder. Beifong and Seymour are our two visually-impaired rescues that aren't afraid of much, but they don't like nail clippers and grinders either.

We tried every clipper, every grinder, every trim-at-the-vet trick. Nothing worked. So we designed the box you see here. That prototype is still in our living room. The version we sell now is its grown-up cousin: same idea, better wood, replaceable nail file paper, and a patent so the imitations can't imitate, but more importantly, don't hurt your cat.

"The size is perfect for two cats to use it at once, and the holes fit their paws no problem. I can hear them scratching their nails against the sandpaper to grip their treats, so I can tell (and also see the results) that their nails are actually getting filed! I've tried sandpaper scratching posts and my cats were never interested, so I was so relieved and excited that they love this box so much. Cleaning up the leftover treats is easy with all the parts being removable, I usually just vacuum the crumbs or brush them off."

"All three of my cats go bonkers for this box! I primarily use this as a treat box, but my kitten enjoys batting around the little ball in there... Heavy enough that my one senior boy can’t flip the box and hit the treat jackpot, as he did with the old cardboard one. It has also anti-skid dots on the bottom, and stays in place fairly well when they are trying to slide it around."

"Immediately loved this. The girls could not wait for me to even put it together. It’s solid and excellent quality. Anyone who graduated kindergarten and can put together a puzzle can put this box together. Don’t let the negative reviews deter you they just can’t use their eyes and put the correct ends together. It’s not hard and took 30 seconds to assemble."

"Our cats enjoy the extra enrichment

My cats took to the box pretty easily since they already have some treat puzzles. I like how easily I can take it apart to clean it out of if I need to. It’s nice that there the file paper everywhere the cats claws will go. I also loved the bonus cat toy ball it came with! So far we love it!"

FREQUENTLY ASKED

The questions we get most.

Still wondering something? Email us at figandfriends@heydearfig.com. A real person (usually with a cat on their lap) will write back.

Most cats walk up to it on their own once treats are inside. If yours is shy, start by sprinkling their favorite treats, toys, or catnip around the outside, then place a few in the holes. About 9 in 10 cats engage in the first session.

Yes — nail file paper (just like what we humans use on our own nails) sticks to the interior of the box on all sides, so every time your cat reaches in, the front of their claws drags across it. It works gradually, gently filing down their sharp claws. Most owners notice a difference after a week of regular play.

It's the same gentle 120 grit aluminum oxide nail file material used on human nail files. Cats interact with the surface using their claws, not their paw pads. We've tested it with our own five (very judgmental) animals for over two years.

We invented this design and have a patent on it. The knockoffs use thinner wood or cardboard, toxic materials such as pine, use soft felt (which does nothing) instead of nail file material, and don't last past a few months. Ours uses solid oak wood and pre-cut refill sheets so the box itself lasts years.

Depends on how much your cat plays and if you take care of the paper. For one cat, most people swap sheets every 6-12 months. For a multi-cat household, every 6 months is typical. A refill pack is $19.99.

No. It's a daily maintenance tool that keeps the front claws shorter and reduces the need for full trims. We still recommend regular vet checkups, especially for back claws, senior cats, and kittens.

Free shipping on all U.S. orders. Most orders go out within one business day from our warehouse and arrive in 3–5 business days on domestic orders. International orders can be 5-21 business days depending on region.

If you tried everything, send it back within 30 days for a refund (subject to fees). We'd rather have it in a home where it gets used than collecting dust on a shelf.
